Backstretch Pension Plan Registration Begins April 25th

Sign-up for the MTHA’s Backstretch Pension Fund begins April 25th and will be conducted until May 13th on rotating basis at Laurel Park and Pimlico.

Backstretch employees must register to receive benefits based on the previous year.

Anyone currently employed in the care of horses on the backstretch, including trainers, is eligible to participate. However, the employee must have worked a minimum of 1,000 hours during the specified year, and provide documentation to that effect (with a W-2 or 1099 form, or tax return).

Benefits become available when the employee reaches the age of 65, or at age 55 with 25 years of service.

April 25 thru April 29
Laurel Park Track Kitchen
9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 

May 2 thru May 6
Laurel Park MTHA Office
9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 

May 9 thru May 13
Pimlico MTHA Office
9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
